Floaty, floppy and floral pieces – a real flower power combination on the runway – was shown, transporting the fashion elite who were watching to a warmer climate in their mind.Colours were vivid and bright but equally matched with toned down nudes – alongside this colour blocks and stripes of pillar box red and electric blue collided with fuchsia pink to bring a noticeable slant on the collection: this is for a woman who wants to stand out from the crowd.
Backstage however Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals, Eugene Souleiman, was busy creating DKNY’s hair look for the show.
Styling a pretty, contemporary take on New York glamour with a young and fresh finish the volume and length were expanded by adding lots of hair extensions to create a blended contrast to the natural hair colour, for a ‘Beachy Hamptons Summer Look’.
“I was inspired by the rich colours and prints of the collection which had a kind of French Riviera feel about it, and I wanted to create a contrast against the high glamour of this look. I wanted the girls to be cool, young and fresh, and their hair to look like it has been in the sun all summer long – so it had variation in colour and an arid texture,” noted Souleiman.
