The Cannes Film Festival has begun and the South of France is seeing its annual influx of directors, film stars, producers and film buffs.
Of course Cannes is all about films but as with any arts festival it often goes hand in hand with fashion, therefore each year stars turn out in the latest designer creations and trends.
Uma Thurman was photographed on day one wearing a white dress which is very popular trend for this season. She also wore a long white strapless gown with feathers on the train to an evening event.
Also following suit was actress Rachel McAdams who matched her ethereal white dress with nude heels – another huge trend for summer 2011.
Angelina Jolie opted for a simple nude dress which she accessorised with a tan leather belt and a fabulous blow dry.
Completely contrasting with the muted colours of Uma and Rachel was Salma Hayek in a Gucci red leather dress enhanced by an ostentatious floral bolero.
Although an odd dress to wear, especially as it was from the Autumn Winter collection and we are only in May; it was understandable that Salma wore Gucci seeing as her husband François-Henri Pinault is the CEO of PPR which owns the label.
Salma also carried on the Gucci theme by wearing a grey/silver sparkly strapless dress for the red carpet.At the Chanel Cruise Collection Launch in Cannes, models, actresses and TV personalities were present dressed in prim and proper Chanel attire.
Girl about town Alexa Chung wore an ankle length candyfloss pink dress by Chanel whilst Clemence Posey chose a mustard yellow cocktail frock with a feathered hem.
It seems feathers are going to be big soon.
