Carine Roitfeld Models for Barneys Fall 2011 Campaign

It seems that it is all happening in the Big Apple this week. After Karl Lagerfeld’s latest images were released for his Macy’s Fall 2011 Capsule Collection, pictures of Carine Roitfeld’s collaboration with Barneys New York were quickly leaked on Twitter thereafter (by New York journalist Jim Shi)  showing their new collaborative advertising campaign.

Carine Roitfeld Modeling Barneys Campaign Fall 2011
The former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris – and stylist – who stepped down from her position in December last year, is now surprisingly paving her way from editorial to modelling, bringing her children in on the act too.

Shot by renowned fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti and overseen by creative director Dennis Freedman (formerly of W magazine), the collection of campaign shots show Roitfeld hugging her son Vladimir, alongside solo shots of fashionable daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld.

She has also called upon famous friends with iconic styles to appear, and as she was originally brought in to style and guest-edit Barneys autumn/winter ’11 catalogue and advertising campaign Roitfeld has simply named these shots ‘Carine’s World’.

Even though this collaboration was originally noted back in March, Roitfeld surprised journalists and fans alike by modeling herself for the campaign, bringing a certain je ne sais quoi and French allure on set.

Freedman stated to press, “She has a unique and extraordinary personal style. She appeals to all ages. She is independent and strong, and yet she is completely feminine. She is a woman of the world, which we like to think our customer is, as well.”

Since leaving Vogue Paris 56-year-old Roitfeld has also secured a 400-page book deal about her styling career with publishing house Rizzoli and guest-edited a 72-page article for V magazine’s “Heroes Issue”, alongside photographer Mario Testino.
