Katie Holmes and Cate Blanchett attend Armani Privé haute couture autumn/winter collection.
Oriental and Japanese inspired clothing was the order of this collection for 76-year old designer Giorgio Armani.
Armani’s Privé autumn/winter couture collection was a modest nod to the Zen-like minimalism he surrounds himself with and screamed Geisha at every corner.
The continuous theme ranged from lapel-less jackets with satin linings in pale pinks and cut-off trousers – sometimes in velvet – to tops and skirts with obi belts clasped in-between, and structured evening gowns that used sheer fabrics to hold sections together.
The colour palette was an array of black tones with flashes of sunset orange, fuchsia and white injecting floral Azalia and Yuki Yanagi flower prints and fan-like patterns throughout.
Headpieces were like a work of art designed, of course, by the master milliner Philip Treacey, whom snuck in a few chopsticks along the way. His straw bow headdresses – some with floral foliage – were amazingly cut and extremely poignant in the collection.
Sitting in the front row taking all this possibly pre-Oscar and red carpet worthy outfits in for next season were actresses Katie Holmes and Cate Blanchett.
Holmes adorned an Armani black trouser suit with python wedge-heels whilst Blanchett dressed in a striking pillar-box red two-piece suit, reminiscent of January Jones in the Mad Men 1950s era.
