When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge married earlier this year – apart from stating how stunning Kate Middleton looked – all eyes also panned to her sister, chief bridesmaid, Pippa Middleton.Pippa’s elegant yet simple silk Alexander McQueen dress – also designed by Sarah Burton (and reportedly costing a staggering £20,000) – wowed the nation and after popular customer demand high street store Debenhams have decided to launch a limited edition version, which will be sold in stores nationwide later this year.
Their edit consists of a slender ivory cowl neck gown with button-back detail and elegant cap sleeves, costing a reasonable £170 – a mere fraction of the original designer price.
Debenhams are of course anticipating a long back list of reservations and requests so have already created a ‘Lady in Waiting list’ email address for anyone wanting to purchase the dresses this autumn.
The department store will also be producing a version of Pippa’s emerald green Alice Temperley evening gown (for £99), which she wore to her sister’s reception.
An on-trend colour for autumn/winter 2011 this evening dress would also be considered a popular choice for winter weddings.
As well as these iconic dresses Debenhams will also create a selection of day and flower girl dresses (ranging from £48 to £52 depending on age) that were inspired by Kate Middleton’s lace sweetheart wedding gown.
Alain Mehada, Chief Personal Shopper at Debenhams Oxford Street added: “Both men and women everywhere were instantly talking about Pippa, so naturally brides-to-be will want to emulate her classic look – both for themselves or their bridesmaids.
“We have been inundated by customers asking if we have anything similar to the dresses worn by Kate, Pippa and the flower girls, but the ivory dress worn by Pippa is the most requested by far.”
