For the second time in months the world witnessed another British Royal Wedding; however, this time it was a more low-key and intimate affair than the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as The Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips wed her long-time boyfriend Mike Tindall on Saturday 30 July, 2011.
Phillips, who stepped to cheers of thousands of well wishes, looked every inch the perfect bride, with a beaming smile and flawless hair and make-up, before she married her long-term partner rugby star Mike Tindall.
Adorning a timeless Stewart Parvin creation that consisted of ivory silk faille with capped tulle sleeves, the overall style of dress she opted for was a silk duchess satin gown, which Phillips teamed perfectly with her mother’s (Princess Anne’s) tiara.
The bride and groom looked relaxed and extremely happy as they left Canongate Kirk church, in Edinburgh, after taking their vows.
Guests were then treated at Holyrood House to a formal sit-down dinner that consisted of Scottish venison and Lobster, listening to a jazz band afterwards.
Royal guests and celebrities to attend the ceremony included The Queen, Prince Philip, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. Rugby stars such as Johnny Wilkinson and Austin Healey were also in attendance.
The best man’s speech came later from rugby colleague Iain Balshaw whom commented that Tindall’s life had dramatically changed since meeting Zara, adding “He’s gone from a Ford Mondeo to an Audi to a Range Rover to a chauffeur-driven car.”
Proving the longevity of their relationship was always set to last and that Phillips had made Tindall a better person all round.
Philips, 30, and Tindall, 32, who have been dating for seven years, were engaged in December 2010 at their regency townhouse in Cheltenham.
After the wedding ceremony this weekend Phillips also noted that she was keeping her maiden name as she is set to continue with her equestrian role and compete in the Gatcombe Park horse trials later this week.
