Salma Hayek first became a star when this sexy Mexican woman played the title role in 1989 Mexican telenovela “Teresa” at the age of 23, followed by 1994 movie “The Alley of Miracles” or “El callejón de los milagros”. After becoming a popular star in Mexico, Salma Hayek made her to Hollywood and landed a role in action film “Desperado”, romantic comedy movie “Fools Rush In”, big bugdet “Wild Wild West” and “Once Upon a Time in Mexico”. And her marriage with French billionaire François-Henri Pinault on Valentine’s Day, 2009 in Paris also made her famous. Salma Hayek is a hot woman with 5′ 3″ (160 cm) tall, long dark hair, pretty dark brown eyes, attractive figure and Virgo star sign.

Salma Valgarma Hayek Jiménez was born on September 2, 1966 in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico to Spanish mother Diana Jiménez Medina and Lebanese descent father Sami Hayek Dominguez. Raised by wealthy and religious parents who wanted their little girl to be well educated, the 12-year-old Salma was sent to an independent school in Louisiana. She finished high school and attended the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City but she dropped out of her college to pursue her dream to become actress.

Salma Hayek started to make an appearance in a local theater in Mexico. Her appearance in the theater led her to commercials, which finally led her to a role in popular and successful telenovela that made Salma Hayek a star, “Teresa”. But it was not enough for her who had an ambition to be a Hollywood star.

After her little fame in Mexico, Salma Hayek with her limited fluency in English decided to move to Los Angeles, California in 1991. Then she began to practice her acting skills under acclaimed acting teacher Stella Adler while learning English language.

Salma Hayek’s big part finally came when director Robert Rodriguez and producer Elizabeth Avellan cast her in the sequel to “El Mariachi”, “Desperado” (the action film that helped in launching Antonio Banderas’ career). Salma Hayek played the role of Carolina – a beautiful woman and bookstore owner. For her performance in the movie, Salma Hayek received MTV nomination for Best Kiss.

In 1996, Salma Hayek had a brief role as snake dancer and vampire queen in horror movie “From Dusk till Dawn” directed by Robert Rodriguez and appeared in 1997 romantic comedy “Fools Rush In” alongside Matthew Perry. Salma Hayek continued to expand her film repertoire by playing the role of “Nurse Harper” in another Robert Rodriguez film “The Faculty” (with Josh Hartnett, Elijah Wood and Jordana Brewster), in 1999 fantasy comedy movie “Dogma” (alongside Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) and in “Wild Wild West” alogside Will Smith.

One year later, Salma Hayek founded Ventanarosa – a film production company with its first feature film “No One Writes to the Colonel” or “El Coronel No Tiene Quien Le Escriba”. In the same year, she kept busy with her roles of Rose in Timecode, Sgt. Meredith Kolko in “Chain of Fools” and in “Traffic”. In 2002, she co-produced and starred in “Frida” (a film which depicts the life of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo). For her performance in the film, she earned Best Actress nomination by Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.

In 2006, Salma Hayek also added another amazing television work to her list when she produced and guest-starred as “Sofia Reyes” in TV series that aired from 2006 to 2010 “Uggly Betty”. Her role as “Sofia Reyes” in the TV series earned a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress by Primetime Emmy Awards. She also appeared in the movie “Bandidas” with Penelope Cruz.

Salma Hayek then played alongside Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider in hilarious film “Grown Ups”. She starred as the wife of well known Hollywood talent agent (played by Adam Sandler).

Apart from her acting career, Salma Hayek also has modeled for luxury watch and jewelry company Chopard, appeared in 2006 Campari advertisement and in a series of Spanish language commercials for Lincoln Cars. In 2007, Salma Hayek was placed number 4 in “Latino Power 50″ list by The Hollywood Reporter. That same year, more than 60 percent of the U.S. population considered Salma Hayek as sexy symbol. In 2008 AskMen.com placed her number 52 in their 2008 “Top 99 Most Desirable Woman” list.
