Halle Berry is a very talented actress with the an amazing ability to play variety of roles in movie including superhero movie “X-Men” (and its sequels), “Monster’s Ball”, “Catwoman”, “Swordfish”, “Die Another Day” and “Perfect Stranger”. Halle Berry has received many awards for all her performance in many movies and becomes one of Hollywood actress with highest earning.

Before Halle Berry jumped in the acting world and became one of well known actresses, this undeniably gorgeous woman with 5′ 9″ (175 cm) tall, Leo star sign, lovely brown eyes and dark hair entered beauty pageants in the 1980s.

Her birth name is Halle Maria Berry and she was born on August 14, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio to a father Jerome Jesse Berry and mother Judith Ann (a psychiatric nurse). Halle Berry and her older sister, Heidi, had a tough time living in a single-parent household when their parents divorced in 1970.

By the time she entered Bedford High School, Halle Berry became a cheerleader, school paper editor and a prom queen. After her high school graduation in 1983, she entered the Miss Teen Ohio beauty pageant and won the crown. After that, Halle Berry continued to win several high-profile beauty pageants including Miss Teen All-American (in 1985), Miss Ohio USA (in 1986), Miss USA (first runner-up in 1986) and Miss World. After winning several beauty pageants, she decided to continue her education Cuyahoga Community College. But unfortunately, Halle Berry left her college where she studied broadcast journalism to pursue acting and modeling career.

Halle Berry then landed her first role in a television series “Chicago Force” and “Living Dolls” as Emily Franklin. It was in 1991 when she got her first breakthrough role playing as Vivian alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Wesley Snipes in Spike Lee’s drama film “Jungle Fever”. In the same year, she had a recurring role of Debbie Porter on the popular and long-running TV soap opera “Knots Landing”, followed by a starring role alongside Eddie Murphy in 1992 romantic comedy film “Boomerang”.

In 1995, Halle Berry starred as Khaila Richards (a woman who hides and leaves her child in a trash) in drama film “Losing Isaiah”. Her performance in the movie made her acting work more noticeable. Then she was cast in 1996 comedy drama “Race the Sun” and 1996 action movie “Executive Decision” (alongside Kurt Russell, John Leguizamo and Steven Seagal) and was hired to be the spokeswoman for American cosmetics company Revlon.

Then in 2000, Hale Berry played the role of Storm of Ororo Munroe (a mutant superhero) in “X-Men” along with Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman and Ian McKellen. The movie grossed almost $300 million worldwide and made over $50 million in home video sales.

Her next movie appearance was in 2001 crime thriller “Swordfish” alongside John Travolta and Hugh Jackman. This movie was initially popular because it featured Halle Berry sunbathing with no single top and of course she agreed to do that after Warner Brothers raised her fee. In the same year, Halle Berry appeared in romantic drama film “Monster’s Ball” as Leticia Musgrove. She received the Best Actress prize by Screen Actors Guild Awards and became first African-American actress to win a Best Leading Actress award for her performance.

Her Oscar triumph didn’t make this sexy woman to stop her acting career. Halle Berry continued her fantastic movie appearance as she played the role of Jinx (an NSA Agent and Bond girl) in 2002 film “Die Another Day” which featured her beautiful bikini scene, and reprised her role as Storm in the second installment of “X-Men”, “X2: X-Men United”.

Halle Berry’s next appearance was in thriller film “Gothika” in 2003 alongside with Robert Downey Jr. and in 2004 superhero film “Catwoman”. For her performance in “Catwoman”, Halle Berry won the Worst Actress Razzie award. She actually attended the Razzie Award to collect it and said “there is no way you could be a good winner if you couldn’t be a good loser” during the ceremony.

Halle Berry appeared as Storm again in the “X-Men: The Last Stand”, starred in the psychological thriller film “Perfect Stranger” (alongside Bruce Willis) and in “Things We Lost in the Fire”. And for all of her contributions to the film industry, Halle Berry was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 3, 2007. Three months later, Halle Berry grabbed a spot in world’s most fabulous 40-something celebrities by “In Touch” magazine. She was named “Sexiest Woman Alive” by Esquire magazine in October 2008.
