Grey and silver were the favourite choices of Cannes Film Festival’s sixth day of celebrations.
Uma Thurman wore a grey floor length dress that appeared to filter out like a mermaid’s tail.
The dress was unusual but eye-catching especially as the fabric look quilted and the neck area and scooping down the back were grey roses.
Also in the grey camp was model and athlete Aimee Mullins in another unusual gown. The floor length dress had long sleeves and sections cut out across the chest.
She also wore two black crisscrossed belts to cinch it in at the waist. Wearing her hair simply in a chignon the dress flattered her frame.
Verging more into sparkles was Lady Victoria Hervey in a backless iridescent grey evening gown.
The sleeveless dress was fitted on the body part and extended into a wide skirt. She also wore her hair up in a quiff.
The very popular nude shade for summer 2011 was experimented with by various stars.
Kirsten Dunst wore a nude dress with a diamond pattern. This pattern extended down to the skirt part which was sheer and showed off her legs.
Dasha Zhukova also opted for a nude mini dress, which had ruffles on the sleeves and leading down the body and onto the hem.
Meanwhile model Bar Refaeli chose a diamante encrusted gown. The skirt was made up of feathers and was split up the centre showing off her enviable legs and gold strappy platform shoes.
Looking fabulous and every bit the Brazilian beauty was model Alessandra Ambrosio in a simple blue strapless maxi-dress.
The bodice was embellished with shiny sequins which then led into a chiffon skirt that draped on the floor.
Alessandra wore her hair tousled and down with the front section pinned off her face. She also wore large dangly earrings and a silver clutch bag to match.
It appears then that key trends for summer are grey and feathers. The watery look with aqua blues and mermaid shaped gowns will also be prominent in the summer collections.
